Welcome Back to 7B
Welcome back! I've been away for 5 years. Good years.... amazing years. I've had extended adventures few in this world ever get to enjoy. I've been all over Europe and some parts of Northern and Central Africa. I've made friends for life and learned bits and pieces of new languages. I've shopped in small local markets, haggled over prices, and learned to cook some mouthwatering ethnic dishes. All that to say... as of late July 2017...I'm back in the land of "famous potatoes" in the county I'd formerly resided in for 16 years. I raised kids and grandkids here. I remarried my ex-husband here, and though we failed the second time as well, we did have some wonderful moments together in this northern land of big lakes and plentiful beauty.
At the end of this hike, we reward ourselves with a traditional huckleberry libation and a tasty lunch at Elkins Resort, taking our meal out on the sprawling grassy lawn overlooking the shores of another dynamic lake, Priest Lake. Life is GOOD.
I will be the administrative leader of a medium sized elementary school, The Principal! This is a position my entire working life has prepared me for. I will get to use my artistic skills, my hospitality skills, my entrepreneurial skills, my teaching skills, my writing skills, and my stage skills! This job will be challenging, joyful, scary and sometimes heartbreaking... but it is what I've wanted for quite some time and here I am. In a few days, I will begin my Love affair with Priest River Elementary!
My sister who has helped me move is going to stay a couple of days before flying home. We take maximum advantage of this time by exploring the surrounding area. North Idaho is a breathtakingly beautiful part of the inland northwest. There are 49 lakes in this county alone. https://www.anyplaceamerica.com/directory/id/bonner-county-16017/lakes/ Lake Pend Oreille, the largest of these is so deep and wide, there is an experimental naval submarine base located on it's southern end. It's vistas equal anything in the world, and just about around July 4th... the crystal clear waters are warm enough to comfortably swim in.We also make a trek up to the Roosevelt Grove of Ancient Cedars on a HOT August day. This grand old stand of immense trees is located north of Priest Lake, about 25 miles from the Canadian border. Past the stand are fields of brilliant wildflowers, and the trail narrows. The hike loops back around for a side trip viewing of a lovely cool high waterfall.
If I hadn't gotten this job, if I hadn't walked through that door, the pieces that will fall into place the next few years would have been lost to me. The experiences and joys and necessary journeys would not have come to pass. Before my sister leaves, we join up with my daughter and my oldest grandchild to meet my first great grandchild. It is a sweet moment in time that will unfold into a LOVE relationship in these years to come......
I will need to go to work soon. Summer will come to an end, and my sister must sadly depart my company to fly back to Colorado and our mother. It has been a whirlwind of fun. Moving and communing and exploring. My sister is GREAT company and I always enjoy our experiences. I will miss her company but the next chapter will unfold soon. I am ever so grateful!
"So Faith, Hope, Love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is LOVE."
